We focus on self defense Karate


* We start with the punch, kick, blocks found in all karate and martial arts.


* Then we explore the simple, obvious, hidden hand (kakushite) Self Defense Karate applications that are in plain sight yet mostly overlooked. Okinawan Karate Masters teach them only to a few of their most trusted senior students.


* Sensei Iha often mentioned, most people only need the punch, kick, blocks of karate. Because I was often in tenuous situations overseas, and teaching people who used Karate often for self defense, Sensei Iha taught me the grappling and breaking applications hidden in Karate Kata.


* Once you see these obvious, easy to learn, self defense Karate reactions you will be amazed that they were always there in plain sight.


* We cooperate with our training partners in Karate class to learn self defense applications while avoiding injuries.

Perform Your Karate Kata as a Fight

No Dancing in Your Pajamas!


Karate is Much More than Punch-Kick-Block


1. To Maximize Force = Use Your Mass

  (from your hips) X Acceleration

  (Acceleration = Change in Speed

  Squared)

  * Focus on Your Speed Not Muscle!


2. Chin Ku Chi or Bone-Muscle-Engery

  Be like a Tidal Wave to overcome

  oppositon.


3. No Foot Spins in Self Defense

  Karate!


4. Move Your Base Foot first,

  Then engage Your Hips, and

  Finally Your Hands for Effective Self

  Defense!

5. Hikite: What is in your Hand You

  Pull Back?


6. Your Punch/Kick = Block = Throw =

7. Turns in Self Defense Karate Kata
